VMware vSphere 7.x will reach the end of general support on October 2, 2025. After this date, the platform will no longer receive product updates, security patches, or technical support from Broadcom.
What Happens After Support Ends?
Continuing to run vSphere 7.x beyond the support deadline means operating in an unsupported environment. This can increase your exposure to security vulnerabilities, complicate issue resolution, and lead to compliance risks for organizations governed by standards such as HIPAA, PCI DSS, or NIST. Although previously released patches and fixes will remain available for download with an active maintenance agreement, no new updates or support cases will be provided.
Why Upgrade to vSphere 8?
If your hardware meets the system requirements, we recommend planning a move to vSphere 8. Upgrading helps keep your infrastructure secure, supported, and aligned with current best practices. Be sure to review your hardware’s compatibility or evaluate whether a hardware refresh might be needed to fully benefit from the newer version.
Broadcom Changes to Licensing and Support
With VMware now under Broadcom, changes to licensing and support policies have added new factors to consider. This is a timely opportunity to reassess your platform strategy and determine what makes the most sense for your organization moving forward.
